FAQ's
Q: What is the 'AA' league?
A: The AA league was introduced by Softball Manitoba in 2020, as a way to bridge the gap between the 'A' and 'AAA' leagues. It is intended to provide athletes registered with the 'A' organizations an opportunity to compete in an extended season that runs beyond the 'A' Provincials.
Q: How do I know if my athlete(s) are eligible to play on the 'AA' team?
A: Currently, the 'AA' program follows the Manitoba Thunder boundaries. This includes everyone residing East of the Red River, North of Dugald Road and inside of the North-East Perimeter Highway. This year, we are asking that any and all athletes from the NESA catchment who are interested in AA, submit a registration. If we do not have enough athletes to field a team at each age category, we plan to explore alternatives for interested athletes.
Q: How much longer does the 'AA' season extend, beyond the regular 'A' season?
A: The 'AA' season will wrap up at varying times, depending on your athletes age group. Typically, the AA season will continue into mid-late August.
Q: Can I just play 'AA' instead of playing 'A' ? Won't the seasons conflict with one another?
A: You cannot! Athletes must be registered and competing with an 'A' program in order to be eligible to play 'AA'. In order to prevent any conflicts, the 'AA' teams are restricted to hosting events only on Friday evenings between May 1 until the conclusion of the 'A' Provincial tournament, with the exception of potential Showcase weekends.
Q: When do 'AA' tryouts take place?
A: Tryout dates and location for the 2023 season are set to coincide with the NESA 'A' evaluations. Anyone interested in trying out for the U11, U13, U15 or U17 teams are encouraged to complete the tryout form below. In the event that any teams do not have enough players to form a team, we will be in contact to explore alternate options.
